Challenge Overview

What is the SenseAhead Challenge?

The SenseAhead Challenge is a company-wide activity challenge for eligible GE employees using the Jiff-Health Benefits app. Track your steps in a virtual journey through the 5 senses of the mind and engage in some friendly competition by helping your team reach 5 milestones unlocking mindfulness tips, exercises and puzzles.

What is the objective of SenseAhead?

The objective is for you and your team to complete the full journey. Each time you and your team track 70,000 steps, you’ll unlock a new milestone. Reach the finish line by unlocking all 5 milestones and achieving 350,000 steps.

Who is eligible to participate?

The SenseAhead Challenge is open to all eligible GE employees (excluding GE Stand Alone Affiliates and contractors).

How do I join the SenseAhead Challenge? I am new to Jiff.

  1. Download the Jiff-Health Benefits app from the Apple or Google Play Store or access online at http://app.jiff.com
  2. Select “Enter with Employer SSO”, enter “GE”, and log in with your GE SSO
  3. Follow in app prompts to set up your profile
  4. Click “Progress” from the bottom navigation bar
  5. Select SenseAhead
  6. Click “Get Started” and follow the in-app prompts to join

I’ve already downloaded the Jiff-Health Benefits app and have an account. How do I enroll in the SenseAhead Challenge?

  1. Open the Jiff-Health Benefits app
  2. Select “Enter with Employer SSO”, enter “GE”, and log in with your GE SSO
  3. Click “Progress” from the bottom navigation bar
  4. Select SenseAhead
  5. Click “Get Started” and follow the in-app prompts to join

I have the Jiff Challenges app, do I need it for the SenseAhead Challenge?

No. You no longer need the Jiff Challenges app. All challenges are now found within the Jiff-Health Benefits app. You can access all past and future challenges in the “Explore” section of the app.

Is there an enrollment end date?

No. You can enroll in the SenseAhead Challenge at any point during the challenge.

Can I unenroll from the Challenge?

No. Once you’ve signed up you cannot unenroll. You can, however, choose not to participate by not tracking your steps. Keep in mind that if you don’t participate, your team will still need to achieve the same total steps to unlock each milestone.

How are teams formed?

You can create your own team or join a team of up to 5 to participate in the Challenge.

If you choose to create a team, you’ll become the designated team captain. You’ll have the option of making your team Public, which means anyone can join, or Private, which means that all team members must be invited and approved by you.

How do I create a team?

  1. Click “Create a Team” on the team selection screen
  2. The default team setting is Public. If you choose to make your team Private, a lock icon will appear next to your team name letting others know. Note: You can switch your team setting from Private to Public, or vice-versa, anytime during the Challenge
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to name your team and upload a photo
  4. After creating your team, click “Invite Others” and select the colleagues you’d like to ask to join your team. Note: If your colleague does not have a Jiff account, they will not appear in Invite Others. You will need to reach out to them directly.

How do I join a team?

  1. Click “Join a Team” on the team selection screen. You’ll see the teams you’ve been invited to join at the top of the list, plus a list of Public teams that have open spots
  2. Select the team you’d like to join. You can also use the search box to look for other teams. Search either by team name or a colleague’s name
  3. If there’s a Private team you’d like to join, click “Request to Join”. You’ll be notified if the team captain approves your request. You can send requests to join multiple private teams. When one of your requests is approved, the other requests you made will be removed

What if I don’t know what team to join?

  1. Click “Put Me on a Team” on the team selection screen
  2. The app will automatically search for a Public team that has open spots and place you on a team. You’ll be notified when you’ve been placed on a team

Can I invite someone to join my team?

Anyone on a Public team can invite colleagues to join the team. On Private teams, captains are the only ones who can extend the invitations.

If you’re on a Public team and want to send an invitation:

  1. Click “View My Team” on the Challenge countdown screen
  2. Click “Invite Others” on your team page
  3. Select the colleagues you’d like to notify. They’ll receive an invitation to join your team. Note: If your colleague does not have a Jiff account, they will not appear in Invite Others. You will need to reach out to them directly.

Can I switch teams?

You can change teams any time before the Challenge starts. Once the Challenge begins, all team selections are final. If you join the Challenge after the official start date, your first team selection, or the first team you’re placed on, is final. Additionally, team captains cannot leave their team once others have joined.

What if my team isn’t full by the start of the Challenge?

You can continue to fill your team after the Challenge begins. Keep in mind teams will have to achieve the same step count (70,000 steps to each milestone, 350,000 steps to cross the finish line) regardless of team size.

Can team settings be changed during the Challenge?

Yes, team captains can edit the team name and photo. You can also switch to a Public or Private setting at any point during the Challenge. Settings are accessed from the gear icon at the top right of the Team Profile page.

Can I remove someone from my team?

No, you cannot remove someone from your team.

How do I communicate with just my team in the Newsfeed?

In the newsfeed, on the top navigation bar, click where it says “Public” and change to “My Team”.

Do I need an activity tracker to participate?

It is recommended that you use an activity tracker to participate. However, there is an option for you to enter your activity/steps using manual tracking.

What activity trackers are compatible with Jiff?

Compatible step tracking services include the following:

  • Apple Health
  • CaloryGuard
  • Fitbit
  • Garmin
  • Google Fit
  • Health Mate by Withings
  • Misfit
  • Moves
  • MyFitnessPal
  • UP by Jawbone

How do I link an activity tracker?

If the Challenge has not started, on the Challenge countdown screen:

  1. Click “Link Tracker” and follow the prompts to link your tracker

If the Challenge has started:

  1. In the Jiff – Health Benefits app, click on the “More” icon ☰
  2. Click “Test Your Tracker”
  3. Click “Link Activity Tracker” and follow the on- screen prompts

You can also turn your phone into a step tracker. Follow these instructions for iPhone or these for Android.

How can I make sure my tracker is working?

If the Challenge has not started, on the Challenge countdown screen:

  1. Click “Test your Tracker” to show you whether your tracker is linked

If the Challenge has started:

  1. In the Jiff-Health Benefits app, click on the “More” icon ☰
  2. Click “Test your Tracker”
  3. Click on “Tracker Status” to show you whether your tracker is linked

Can I manually input steps?

Yes, you can manually input your activity to be converted into steps.

  1. From your user profile screen in the Challenge, click “Add Activity”
  2. Select “Add Activity or Steps”
  3. Select the activity from the Select Activity screen
  4. Enter the duration or steps (if choosing pedometer) and click Save

How often do I need to sync my steps?

You should sync daily. First check to see that your steps are updated in your activity tracking app. Then, open the Jiff-Health Benefits app to sync your data.

My step count doesn’t seem accurate. How do I update my steps?

To ensure that your data is updated in Jiff, you must first make sure that your data is updated in your activity tracking service. For example, you need to sync your Fitbit wearable to the Fitbit app for your step data to be current before that information will be reflected in the Challenge. Anytime you open the Jiff-Health Benefits app, your data should sync automatically.

When do I need to sync by to ensure all my steps count for the Challenge?

You must sync your steps within 3 days after the Challenge ends for those steps to count. That means that all steps need to be synced by May 25.

How do I unlock the next milestone in a race?

You and your team can unlock each milestone in the race by tracking 70,000 steps.

How many milestones are there?

There are 5 milestones in the SenseAhead Challenge. One for each sense – taste, sight, smell, hearing, touch.

How many steps does it take to reach the finish line?

To complete the race, you’ll need to unlock all 5 milestones by tracking 350,000 steps.

How is my team’s ranking calculated?

Your team’s final ranking is determined by the order in which you cross the finish line. Even after you cross the finish line, you can continue to track your activity/steps until the Challenge ends. This will not change your team’s final ranking, but it can change your individual ranking.

How do I enter to win?

  1. Go to ge-healthahead.com
  2. Navigate to the Brain Teaser Puzzles section
  3. Click “Enter Here” and fill out the submission form

What are the dates I can enter the answers to the puzzles?

Employees can enter the answers to the puzzles from May 15 through May 23.

How will the winners be selected and notified?

All entries that correctly answer the five puzzles will be entered into a random drawing and winners will be notified via email.

Are all smartphones compatible with Jiff?

Supported mobile devices include iOS 9+ and Android 4.0+. We recommend users with Android 2.3 phones use their desktop browser for the best experience. Android 2.3 users must use the Mozilla Firefox internet browser to access the Jiff-Health Benefits app on their phone.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?

You can access the Jiff-Health Benefits app at app.jiff.com on a desktop computer using: IE11+, Safari 7+, Firefox 15+, and Chrome 23+.
